James L. Short, O.D.Optometric Associates of South Bend was formed in September of 1981 as a result of the merging practices of Dr Andy Nemeth, Dr James Short and Dr Richard Stuller.
In August 1995 Dr Stuller officially retired.
Daniel O. Elliott, III, O.D.Dr. Elliott graduated from Washington High School in 1965. He then served in the United States Marine Corps for four years. Following the service, he attended Indiana University School of Optometry. He received his B.S. degree in 1973. He then continued his education to become an O.D.in 1975. In August 1983 Dr Daniel Elliott III and his father, Dr Daniel Elliott Jr., joined the Optometric Associates partnership. Dr Elliott Jr. retired in 1989. Dr. Elliott specials in general optometry and contact lenses.
Thomas D. Morlan, O.D.In August 1999 Dr Thomas Morlan joined the Optometric Associates practice. As he grew his own practice, Dr Morlan worked in the sattelite offices as well as assisting with the care of Dr Stuller's patients. Dr Morlan acquired Dr Nemeth's practice upon Dr Nemeth's death in March of 2005.
Robert L. Proudfit, O.D.Dr. Proudfit grew up in the Michiana area, and is a graduate of Mishawaka High School. He continued his eduaction at Indiana University, where he earned his B.S. degree in 1962. He also graduated as a distinguished military cadet in the United States Air Force. After serving three years in the military, he returned to Indiana University where he received both his B.A. and O.D. degree. The summer he graduated from Optometry School, he was a clinical instructor in the Optometry Clinic. He then returned to the Michiana area in 1969, where his practice has been ever since. Dr. Proudfit is a member of the American Optometric Society, the Indiana Optometric Society, and the North Central Society. He is certified in pharmaceuticals and the treatment and management of ocular diseases. In May of 2007 Dr Robert L Proudfit closed his practice, Family Eye Care of South Bend and joined our practice. We welcome him to our "family."
